The National Agency for Food Drugs and Control (NAFDAC) has disclosed that the payment review of registration fees by 50 per cent is part of new measures to ease the productions of foods, drugs and other products in the country.
The Agency’s Acting Director General, Mr Ademola Mogbojuri, made the disclosure on Monday, in Minna, the Niger state capital at NAFDAC’s Stakeholders Consultative Forum for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMSEs) in support of the Federal government’s initiative on ease of doing businesses.
According to him “we have arrived at some measures. Now, discount will be applied to companies with staff strength of five and below. The discount is 50percent of the original tariff on product registration and this takes effect from the date of approval.
“The entire process of attaining NAFDAC registration license should not exceed 90 days; the registration process of bakery should not exceed 30 days and products registered under this scheme will be granted registration Listing licence for operation,” he said .
Represented by the Agency’s Director of Special Duties, Dr. Abubakar Jimoh, the Acting DG said that the measures were aimed at promoting Small and Medium Enterprises and assist businesses to grow in the country.
Mogbojuri, stressed that the free waivers are on inspection, laboratory analysis and expert license granted to exporters of regulated products as well as reduction in fees charged for registration of locally manufactured regulatory products.
He further explained that the agency has begun the listing of products for a period of two years renewable afterwards hence some minor and small businesses to be registered at zonal levels to ease the bottleneck experienced in the past.
He however warned members of staff of the Agency to stop frustrating registration processes by clients.
Earlier, in his remarks, the Niger state Coordinator of the agency, Mr Isah Ibrahim stressed the need for all hands to be on deck to enable the issue of health safety to succeed hence he assured to operate an open door policy to achieved greater height
