Mr Theophilus Nnorom, the Welfare Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra has called on the people of South East to throw support for the party and its candidates in the 2019 general elections.
Nnorom made the call during a stakeholders’ meeting of the party at Ihiala in Ihiaia Local Government Area of the state, yesterday.
He said this will tackle the issue of marginalization and other challenges facing the South East geo-political zone.
“APC is a ruling party in Nigeria. The party dictates the tune or plays the short.
“Electing an APC candidate will not only ensure that the people of the state form part of the Federal Government but also ends the agony of marginalization in the South East.
“The ruling party in the state, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is a one-party state out of the 36 states.
“The Igbos will continue to cry marginalisation if we do not start to play national politics,” he argued.
Nnorom, who urged the Igbos to support President Mohammadu Buhari’s second term, said it was the easiest way for the people of the South East geo-political zonje to realize their ambition of presidency.
The party stalwart, who was a former House of Assembly member in the state used the medium to inform the people of his intentions to represent the people of Ihiala Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
He said his decision was informed by what he termed “under-representation of the Ihiala Federal Constituency” by both the previous and current House of Representatives members from the area.
According to him, I have done a lot of consultations at the local, state and national levels before taking the decision to contest.
In their separate remarks, the Anambra South Zonal Chairman of the party, Chief Augustine Agbasi and the state Publicity Secretary, Mr Okelo Madukaife commended Nnorom’s boldness and pledged the party’s support.
