Despite the increase in the number of banking establishments in Nigeria and the variety of these establishments, there are loopholes in the Nigerian banking system.
A bank is defined as a place of keeping or saving money, jewellery, etc. But in Nigeria, banks have been reduced to places for saving money only.
Even in the process of saving money, customers are faced with strenuous procedures, having to wait for a long time on queues.
Worsening the case is the unavailability of chairs in some banks which leaves the customers standing for a long period.
Another is the issue of withdrawal of money from banks. Whereas some banks have few ATM machines, others have multiple ATM machines have, but with only a few of them in perfect working condition.
A bank might have five ATM points, whereas only one dispenses money while others can only be used to check account balance or transfer money.
Compounding this issue is the instability of the banks’Â internet network, as customers may get to the ATM and find it out of service.
Thus, customers would have to queue in the sun just to withdraw their hard-earned money deposited in the bank.
Lastly is the issue of customer relations. Some bankers tend to misbehave and address customers anyhow. Also, some are slow in handling customers’ requests.
This is a call on all banks to relieve their customers of the stress encountered in various banking procedures.
