The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the Speaker of the state house of assembly, Matthew Kolawole and the senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Senator Dino Melaye, on Friday expressed shock over the death of the deputy majority leader of the House of Representatives, Hon Buba Jubril.
The governor in a statement issued by the director-general, media and publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, described the late Jibril as a man who “lived in the hearts of his people,” saying the vacuum he left in the state and the All Progressives Congress would be difficult to fill.
“The late former Kogi State House of Assembly Speaker and a principal officer of the House of Representatives was a man of the people. His life is a book for anyone aspiring for greatness to read. The late Buba identified with his people and lived a life of serving the poor in his constituency.
In his reaction, Melaye said the death of Jubril was shocking, saying the deceased was “a man whom I have not enough words to describe.
He said, “He was a colossus in all respect and he has left a mark in the sands of time. His demise to me was a very sad development, it’s quite an unfortunate situation and I think it touches all of us in Kogi West and Kogi State in general.
Also, the speaker of the state house of assembly, commiserated with the immediate family of Jibril, the people of Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, the 8th National Assembly, the people of Kogi State and Nigeria over his untimely demise.
