The Kaduna State Police Command has appealed to stakeholders and press to avoid creating fear on people about security situation in Birnin Gawri local government area of Kaduna State.
The Commissioner of Police, Austin Iwar, made the appeal in a conference held with his officers in the Kaduna on Thursday.
Iwar said “it is important that we appeal to members of the public and the press in particular, to avoid peddling speculative stories on security situation in Birnin Gawri.
“In oder not to heat-up the environment and create fear in the minds of the public, it is more important to confirm with security agencies any information.
The CP noted that even though “we are witnessing pockets of restlessness and banditry in the area, but the police in support and collaboration with Army’s Operation Idon Raini is doing everything to ensure that the situation is brought under total control.
Iwar said in line with the strategic vision of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, and the state command’s security architecture.
“Kaduna command had deployed far-reaching measures to prevent crime and public safety.
Which includes, robust targeted and focused patrols, static duties and surveillance operational to prevent crime and make our communities safer.
“Full adoption and strengthening of community partnership approach to policing as a modern policing method with practical application.
“Improved deployment of intelligence-led policing in all divisions, deployment of 80 per cent of personnel of the command for beats and patrol duties.
He said the command activities under review from January to date, include renunciation of crime and retrival of firearms strategy, over 1,000 persons renunciation of violent, and surrender of large firearms and other dangerous weapons of crime.
