THE organisers of the sustainability, enterprise and responsibility awards otherwise known as The SERAS CSR Awards Africa have announced a list nine erudite professionals and global CSR and sustainability industry leading figures for the 2017 jury panel. The judges would serve a two-year tenure which is subject to renewal.
The list comprises: Deborah Leipziger, Tunde Arogunmati, Maria Silanpaa, Jonathon Hanks, Adesuwa Onyenokwe, Dr. Ini Usoroh, Scott Walker, Indira Kartallozi and Olusegun McMedal.
The new SERAS committee, which would be presided over by Deborah Leipziger, author of The Corporate Responsibility Code Book and SA8000: The Definitive Guide to the New Social Standard, would also have Tunde Arogunmati, Maria Silanpaa, Jonathon Hanks, Adesuwa Onyenokwe, Dr. Ini Usoroh, Scott Walker, Indira Kartallozi and Olusegun McMedal, as members.
Arogunmati, a specialist in business strategy and former president of the Nigerian- British Association, will sit as the vice President of the panel.
According to Ken Egbas, founder of The SERAS, the quality of the panel bore eloquent testimony to the organisation’s resolve to up the ante, this year.
“We have shown this resolve with the highest grade of personalities on the judges’ committee. We have come this far riding on the credibility of our internal processes. These outstanding professionals with impeccable industry records have spent on the average twenty years each helping to shape the trajectories of global CSR and sustainability as well as best practices. The onus now rests on them to not only decide the organizations who cart home the twenty-five prestigious statuettes, but also help the award top retain its rating not only in Africa but also in the world,” he added.

As part of the global initiative tagged “Let’s Colour”, Chemical and Allied Products (CAP) Plc., a subsidiary of UAC of Nigeria Plc. (UACN) has supported the SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria by giving its building a total facelift.
Speaking at the event held at SOS Children’s Villages Social Centre in Ejigbo, recently, the Managing Director, CAP Plc, Mrs. Omolara Elemide described the initiative as part of the company’s commitments to create colourful experiences for disadvantaged communities by adding colour to their lives.
“This year, we have chosen the SOS Children’s Villages Social Centre in Ejigbo, as our activation point. It will be recalled that early this year, CAP and SOS Children’s Village signed a 3-year MOU to empower youths of SOS Children’s Village with painting skills. Consequently, CAP trained 25 youths of SOS Children’s Village to be self-independent using its Dulux Painters’ Academy platform. The second part of the agreement will involve working with the trained youths to rejuvenate spaces within the SOS Children’s Village with Colour,” Mrs Elemide said.
In his response, the National Director, SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria, Mr. Eghosa Erhumwunse expressed delight at the gesture, adding that the Centre’s partnership with CAP Plc had been quite gratifying and rewarding.
