IN continuation of his humanitarian posture particularly to natural disaster victims, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara Saturday donated building materials worth millions of Naira to the victims of the recent windstorm which destroyed many houses, schools and killed three people in 11 villages of Duguri district, Alkaleri local government area of the State of Bauchi state.
The Speaker who was represented by a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly representing Lere\Bula constituency, Muhammad Aminu Tukur said disclosed that items donated included 300 bags of cement and 100 bundles of corrugated iron zinc explaining that the gesture was aimed at bringing succour to the victims.
While commiserating with the victims and families of those who lost their lives as a result of the disaster, Yakubu Dogara advised residents of the area to plant more trees and avoid unnecessary deforestation in order to forestall a future recurrence of the incident.
While responding on behalf of the people, the District Head of Duguri, Alhaji Ibrahim Y. M Baba who was represented by one his council members, Alhaji Ibrahim Sarkin Yaki who received the items on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Speaker for the gesture saying it would help reduce the pains of the victims.

The traditional ruler revealed that aside from the houses and schools that were destroyed in the unfortunate incidence, the windstorm also destroyed over 100 electric poles thereby disconnecting the areas from the national grid of electricity supply.
Y.M Baba, however, assured the Speaker that the items donated would be fairly distributed to all the beneficiaries just as he called on other wells to do individuals in the state to also assist the victims who he said a presently facing untold hardships.
Our Correspondent who witnessed the presentation reports that the Speaker also made similar donations to the victims of a heavy downpour and windstorm at Burga and Shall Villages in Tafawa Balewa local Government of the State.
