Some youths are jobless not because they are not educated but because there are no white-collar jobs anywhere. This situation has continued to worsen by the day.
Thus, it is high time the youths started thinking beyond what government can offer them or what the economy has got for them.
All over the world, young people find it difficult to get jobs. Even those who claim to be employed are usually underemployed.
The truth is that the current unemployment concerns cannot be solved by more government jobs. Rather, we need to democratise job creation.
The only way out for Nigerianyouths is to pay more attention to vocational skills like hairdressing, furniture making, fashion designing, learning of trades, among others.
Youths should not only depend on their certificates. They might not be enough to put food on their table and only entrepreneurs can create the millions of jobs we need to take our economy out of poverty.
Nigerian youths have to develop ideas on how they can be self-employed through vocational skills and without necessarily seeking government employment. That is the only solution to poverty and unemployment in Nigeria.
