Marketing and communication consultants to Carnival Calabar and Festivals, Okhma Global, has unveiled the new carnival icon, Face of Ediye, designed to further enrich revelers’ experiences at the annual event.
‘Ediye’, which means beautiful in Efik, is a celebration of tradition and culture, while the project is aimed at showcasing the natural beauty, heritage and elegance of the African woman.
It also offers an opportunity for women between the ages of 18-30 to be the face of the Carnival and Cross Rivers State for the next 12 months and win remarkable prizes.
Speaking on the development, chairman of the carnival commission, Mr Gabe Onah, explained that the Festival, expected to kick off on the 1st of December, had also released a theme song titled ‘Special Place’, which had continued to receive rave reviews and playtime across the country.
The theme song which features prominent Nigerian artistes, Banky W, Iyanya, Sammy Okposo, TossyYoung and others, seeks to promote Calabar the host of Africa’s biggest street party, and reaffirms its commitment to sustainability.
