THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has expressed concern about unlicensed and reckless drivers plying the nation’s highways, warning that offenders would be arrested and prosecuted for violation of traffic laws.
Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of FRSC, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, who spoke through the Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Bisi Kazeem, in Abuja, said violation of traffic laws had continued to imperil the lives of other road users in the country.
He said the warning became necessary following the number of unlicensed drivers plying the nation’s highways and frustrating the Corps’ efforts to maintain sane highways.

Oyeyemi lamented what he called egocentric traffic behaviour of motorists, usually manifesting in general, lack of consideration for other road users and causing avoidable auto crashes and a sad tale for unfortunate families and the nation at large.
He called on motorists to be particularly wary of excessive speed, overloading, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, use of sub-standard tyres and distracted driving, including the use of phone, and road rage.
He also urged the parents to properly secure their children in the car seats, noting that almost all road traffic crashes occur because of human distractions or errors.
He said: “The Corps will not hesitate to bring any unrepentant offender to book and in doing so, it would resist any attempt at assaulting its personnel.”
