NEWLY elevated elders of The Church of the Lord (Prayer Fellowship) Worldwide have been enjoined to allow Jesus Christ be their role model.
Giving the charge at the consecration and anointing service of 450 laities of the church on December 17, Ositelu, who noted that the elders would face challenges but that Jesus Christ is on their side, in his sermon, said the elders should assist ministers in the discharge of their duties, advise and counsel ministers and contribute to ministers’ building projects.
The elders’ other duties, Ositelu said, included ensuring the church is united, the elders’ names remain untainted, they endure patiently and persevere. He said the laities were elevated because they were found worthy.
He further advised the elders to portray themselves as humble, and models in line with Christ’s example. He also urged the congregation to assist the ordinands in their good work of serving and doing the will of God.
In all, 25 reverends, 50 pastors, 75 evangelists, 60 deacons, 90 deaconesses, 50 exemplary male elders and 100 exemplary female elders were elevated and anointed.
