The Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has disclosed that his government would continue to create an enabling environment where the rich culture, tradition and heritage of the state would be better appreciated and celebrated.
Senator Amosun who made this known at the annual Ojude Oba Festival, held in Ijebu Ode, affirmed that the state government would continue to support the Ojude Oba Festival and other festivals where the rich culture, tradition and heritage of the state would be celebrated, thereby, selling the state as a destination of choice for tourism.
“ For us as a Government, we will continue to create the necessary enabling environment for things like these to thrive, we will witness many more of these, indeed, this is something that has come to stay, this is a festival that will outlive all of us,” He said.
Governor Amosun allayed the fear of the people of the land, on the health of the monarch, adding that he was happy the monarch was hale and hearty.
“ Let me thank God Almighty for Kabiyesi, Awujale’s life, yes, a lot of us were worried, but we thank God that Kabiyesi is here, hale and hearty, that is why i insisted that kabiyesi must speak and address us, so that everybody will know that kabiyesi is well,” He said.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Rt. Hon. Muyiwa Oladipo and his counterpart in the Information and Strategy and Commerce and Industry, Otunba Dayo Adeneye and Otunba Bimbo Ashiru affirmed that the annual celebration by the people of Ijebuland which started over a decade ago was not only an avenue to pay homage to the king, but also an avenue to bring together all son’s and daughter’s of the land.
They also noted that the festival had been able to bring about an increase in revenue generation for all traders in Ijebuland.
In his goodwill message, the Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebu Land, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona while appreciating the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for his support over the years, said the success recorded over the years was all God’s doing.
“ Your Excellency, I must thank you for your support over the years, you have been there, you supported me, God will support you too,” He said.
The age group (Regberegbe) competition saw Egbe Bobamayegun Okunrin Asiwaju Akile coming first in the male category, with Egbe Arobayo Obinrin also coming first in the female category, while Balogun Kuku Family came First in the Balogun horse rider competition.
