Ailing veteran broadcaster, Sadiq Daba, who is currently in the United Kingdom receiving treatment has denied a report that claimed that he was misdiagnosed by his Nigerian doctors before he flew to the UK.
Daba, who is being treated of lukemia at Royal Marsden hospital, Fulham road, said he got a call from Nigeria and was informed of an assertion made by panelist on a cable station, claiming he said he was misdiagnosed.
According to the veteran broadcaster and actor, who played a lead role in Kunle Afolayan’s October 1, he was upset by the assertion, adding that nobody had spoken to him since he got to London and wondered where the information came from.
“Got a call from my son about a certain interview on a cable station about me and the assertion by one of the panelists that I was misdiagnosed in Nigeria. This is very far from the truth and it got me really upset. Nobody has spoken to me, so, where are they getting all that rubbish from?” he queried.
Speaking further, Daba said he would not villify the same people who did all in their powers to help him during his hour of need, adding that without the referral from the doctors in Nigeria, nothing could have been done for him.
“Please help me correct this wrong impression being carried out by certain people over there in Nigeria, none of which is correct. I do hold Nigerian doctors in the highest esteem, especially those under whose care I passed through. Dr. Abimbola Abolarinwa and her team, Urology Department of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and the able and dependable team of doctors at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital,” he added.
