The Aare Ona Kakanfo designate, Dr Gani Adams, has given an insight into how he intends to function as the Yoruba Generalissimo.
Speaking at the palace of Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole at the weekend, Adamus said he planned to work with traditional rulers and everybody, to ensure the unity of the Yoruba race and the progress of the country at large.
Insisting that he would do everything within his power to ensure this, Adams said he was one of the people who played major roles in the fight for the restoration of democracy in the country, adding that nothing was too much to do for its sustainance.
Welcoming the Aare Ona Kakanfo to his palace, the Olu Ilaro said he saw the visit as a great honour.
He stressed that the Aare Ona Kakanfo title was not a tiltle of a town, nor its functions limited to a town or city, but for the entire Yorubaland, adding that the title shared the same origin with Ilaro.
According to the paramount ruler of Yewaland, “whatever that comes from Oyo is automatically ours in Ilaro because that is where we come from.
“Alaafin is a peculiar Oba to us in Ilaro and I want to use this opportunity to thank him for his choice of Gani Adams as Aare Ona Kakanfo “
The oba prayed for a good reign for the 15th Are Ona Kakanfo, while he praised him for his activities in the area of promotion of culture and tradition.
