Isyaku Rabi’u laid to rest, Kano govt renames hospital after him

Security agents had a hectic moment controlling the crowd as the remains of the late business mogul leader of the Tijjaniyya sect in Africa, Alhaji Isyaku Rabi’u, were buried in a private cemetery at his residence in Kano, on Friday.

There was a water tight security within and outside his mansion ,while the funeral  prayer, which was led by Sheikh Tijjani Aliyu Sisse, Chief Imam of Kaulaha mosque, Senegal commenced at 2:30 pm.

Immediately after the prayer, the body of the renown business mogul was then ferried into the cemetery where he was buried at about 2:50 pm.

Notable personalities who graced the occasion  included Aliko Dangote, Chief Of Army Staff, Tukur Burutai, Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje and Jigawa State governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.

Others include, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, among other traditional rulers, businessmen and other important dignitaries.

Late Isyaku Rabi’u died at age 90 on Tuesday, in a London hospital, after protracted illness and left behind wives, many children and grandchildren.

Meanwhile, Kano State government  has approved the renaming of Paediatric Hospital Zoo Road to Khalifa Sheikh Isyaku Rabi’u Paediatric Hospital.

This was contained in a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information, Youth and Culture, Muhammad Garba, and made available to newsmen on Friday.

Meanwhile, Niger State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello  has described the demise of Kano foremost businessman and Islamic scholar, Sheikh Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu as a colossal loss to the country’s religious and business sectors.

Governor Sani-Bello in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary,  Mal. Jibrin Baba Ndace described Late Ishaku Rabiu as a multi-blessed business mogul who contributed  to the country’s economy.

He described the elder statesman as a great Islamic scholar and a leader “whose footprints will remain in our memory forever.”

Sani-Bello described the late scholar as a man willing to give and share un-sparingly in order to uplift the people and contribute his own quota to the development of the society.
