President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday met with governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the presidential villa, Abuja, prevailing on them to support former Edo state governor, Adam Oshiomhole, for the post of the national chairman of the party.
The party has scheduled its national convention for May 14 in Abuja where it is expected to elect its new National Working Committee (NWC) members.

The incumbent party boss, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun who is also from Edo state, is thought to be interested in retaining the seat.
But a top Presidency revealed on Tuesday night that the sole item on the agenda of the meeting was to get the governors to work towards the emergence of Oshiomhole, as the party National Chairman.
The APC had decided to retain the current zoning formula for its national offices which ceded the post to the south-south.
The meeting was held behind closed doors.
The source said: “The President called this meeting with the progressive governors to ask them to back Oshiomhole’s candidature. That’s the purpose of the meeting administration that is the President’s position.”
