THE Nasarawa State government has issued a directive to all commercial banks in the state to suspend any withdrawal request made by its Ministries, Departments and Parastatals (MDAs) pending on when it receives clearance note from the office of the accountant general.
The State Accountant General, Zakka Yakubu disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday in Lafia, the State capital.
According to Yakubu, the move is to ensure strict compliance with the state government policy of returning leftover funds before the new account year.
He added that, notices have been given to MDAs on several occasions to remit balance of funds in their accounts back to the state government coffers yielded no result.
Yakubu stated that their nonchalant attitude to comply with the directive necessitated the suspension of withdrawals.
He noted that as soon as the MDAs come for remittance, their account would be reopened adding that, the move would help to ensure checks and balances.
