Normalcy is returning to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), after an initial confusion during the week, checks at the Bureau headquarters has revealed.
Members of staff were seen on Friday going about their normal duties even as the acting secretary, Mrs Folasade Kolawole, has resumed work and fully in charge of the bureau.
The presidency was said to have waded in convincing leaders of the protesting workers on the reasons behind the directive of the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) on the acting secretary.
“Things are calming down. Except for the case in court, things are returning to normalcy. Our top management staff are billed to meet shortly and everybody is realising the need to support the acting secretary to move the bureau forward,” a top official said.
Some staff had protested her recall, alleging that she had retired from service, even as official records later showed that she had withdrawn her notice of resignation within the three months stipulated by public service rules.
Her colleagues who pleaded anonymity because they were not directed to speak on the matter, also claimed that she offered to resign then because of undue pressure on her to bend the rule and dance to an alleged whims and caprices of the former chairman of the bureau.
“She refused to approve some funny things and she was suspended. She then angrily offered her resignation letter. Few days after, the court sacked the board, the chairman for overstaying in office. She then wrote the SGF to return to service. And it was approved. Hence her resumption of duties”, the official said.
