BARELY 24 hours after the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) stormed Kaduna to protest over the dismissal of over 20,000 teachers, pro-El-rufai protesters paralysed business activities on Friday.
The protesters who took to the major streets in the state capital holding placards with different inscriptions on it were equally chanting slogans in support of the governor’s educational reforms.
While, leading the NLC protest on Thursday, the National President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba remarked that they were in the state to protest the sacking of over 30,000 workers by the state government.
Wabba contended that it was not the dismissal of teachers alone but their findings had gathered that since the two years the governor has been steering the ship of the state, at least 36,000 workers have been sacked.
He told the governor to rescind his decision in the interest of the workers and find a way of resolving the crisis amicably injury anyone.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of students, market women and All Progress Congress(APC) on Friday, a member of the state executive council, Jaafar Sani remarked that the pro-el-Rufai protest was intended to show the world that the reform carried out by the government has the support of the people.
Sani contended that the reform in the education sector by the governor, Nasir el-Rufai was intended to ensure that the public lost glory are not only restored but the sons and daughters of prominent politicians and top government officials attend these schools in the shortest possible time.
Also speaking an APC chieftain, Mallam Maikyau chastised the role of some politicians in the trade union saga accusing them of sponsoring the protest, saying, the party is solidly behind the governor’s educational reforms.
