YOUR recent editorial on the humongous contributions of Lagos State to the revenue profile of this country deserves kudos.
As your argued, Lagos deserves to be given special consideration given the huge burden that it bears on behalf of the entire nation on a daily basis.
In this connection, the National Assembly can no longer continue to shy away from the pressing issue of granting the state special status, as doing so would amount to scoffing at its unmatched contributions to the economy.
It is true that the Yoruba nation has been very diplomatic, peaceful and calm in making its demands under the present administration, but it is equally true that they can be very combative when they have been pushed to the wall.
As if the slighting of Lagos was not bad enough, the National Assembly even went ahead to slash the budget earmarked for the busiest road in the country, ostensibly in view of geographical balancing.
Things cannot continue this way. It will be suicidal to continue treating Lagos State with contempt.
