MEMBERS of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shi’ites, on Monday, changed their style of protest as they trooped out in their hundreds in the evening to call for the immediate release of their leader, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
As of the press time, the group members were protesting at Utako axis in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over the continued detention of El-Zakzaky who has been in detention since December 2015.
The Tribune Online who went round discovered that the demonstrators have besieged the roundabout leading to Utako Market, thereby causing artificial hindrances.
The protesters, who formed a circle at the roundabout, were chanting, “Government free El-Zakzaky, release our leader.”
Stern looking police officers were also seen monitoring proceedings to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
